A Little Time Now...

My boss, quoting a physician he once visited, said something along the lines of "you can spend a little bit of time taking care of your health now, or you'll be paying it all back later." What he meant was that spending a few minutes exercising every day and making healthy food choices will pay off because in your later years you will be sitting in a doctors office all the time because your bad habits are beginning to catch up to you.
Let's face it. Doctor's visits can be a real waste of time. From the seemingly endless amount of time spent in the waiting room, to the wait in the actual room, to the fifteen seconds it takes your doctor to prescribe you with a drug and send you on your merry way, a lot of time is wasted. Add up a couple visits a year, or even worse a couple a month. One doctor for this, another for that, see a specialist for what you've got. As you can see all this time can add up rather quickly.
It doesn't have to be that way though. Exercise might not even have to be a set part of the day. Park further away, take the stairs, clean up. All of these can be a great way to incorporate a little more movement in your life. Just as important is the food choices you make. Take a couple seconds to plan a meal instead of going out to a restaurant or grabbing fast food. Not only will it save your money, it will save your waistline, and also probably minimize those doctor's visits.
A little time now goes a long way. Whether you do or do not, it will all balance itself out in the end.
